The internet is a vast reservoir of information. What will you use it to look up? Information on your family's ancestral homeland? Celebrity gossip about Miley Cyrus or Sam Worthington? Water pumps suppliers near your home? Where to find an industry job in Waco, Texas? We can't really help you with the first two, but the last two are the subject of this article. So if you're at all interested in industry or manufacturing in and around Waco, Texas, you've come to the right web site.
Agriculture
Waco may be large enough to be called a city, but unlike many other urban areas, its borders haven't grown out far enough to merge with other large cities. Instead, it forms an urban oasis in the midst of vast tracts of farmland. Agriculture still makes up a significant portion of the city's economy, so if you're a cowboy or laborer who can operate an automatic banding machine you might manage a job here. Sanderson Farms is the largest in the area, and ranks ninth on the city's list of top employers.
Food Manufacturing
Going hand in hand with food growing is food processing. There are ten food manufacturing businesses operating in Waco which produce such foods as chocolate products and poultry. Jobs in this sector might include slaughtering animals or even working in an office, since Waco is also home to a division of the H.E. Butt Grocery company, whose cake icing is subject to trademark registration. Canada doesn't have any of its 300 stores, but it's still one of the top 75 food retailers on the continent.
Materials Manufacturing
Materials include crucial products that are used to make other things, such as wood, paper, rubber, plastics, and fabricated metal, all of which are produced in Waco factories. If you're an expert PVC tubing cutter you could get a job in one of these factories, or in the factories that take these materials and turn them into Recreational Vehicles and heavy machinery.
Defense Products
While Democracy Now articles focus on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, where do you think the soldiers they're reporting on get their equipment? Some of it is developed right here in Waco! The innocuously named L-3 Communications produces intelligence and reconnaissance products under contract for the Department of Defense. They make things like avionics, training devices, and navigation instruments, so if you want work here you should be smart or precise (preferably both). L-3 is the city's 6th largest employer.
